PG Food – What to Expect & How to Manage If You Don’t Like It
One common issue in PGs is food quality. Some PGs offer tasty food, while others don’t. Here’s how to deal with PG food smartly:
1. Try the Food Before You Move In: If possible, ask to taste the food during your visit. Or talk to current residents for honest feedback.
2. Know the Menu: Ask for the weekly menu. Check if it includes simple and healthy items like rice, dal, sabzi, roti, and curd.
3. Feedback is Important: If the food is not good, politely share your feedback with the manager. Many PGs improve the quality if more residents complain.
4. Keep Snacks: Always keep dry snacks like biscuits, fruits, or instant noodles for backup.
5. Order Wisely: Don’t depend on outside food daily. Order food online only once or twice a week.
6. Small Cooking Tools: If allowed, keep a kettle or small induction for making tea, maggi, or soup.
7. Eat Outside Occasionally: On weekends, eat out with friends or try nearby food stalls to get a break from routine food.
8. Balance the Diet: Even if food is simple, try to eat fruits and drink enough water to stay healthy.
Managing food in a PG is all about smart planning. Don’t expect restaurant food, but look for decent, clean, and healthy meals.
